There are more important things to talk about, like Liverpool beating Inter Milan for instance and taking the last spot in the Champions League quarterfinals. Sure, they already banked a previous 2-0 win at Anfield but it doesn’t make this any less dramatic considering that Inter is the current front runner in Serie A and this is a home game for the Italian team.

Man Utd fans can say what they want about the Reds but hey, Liverpool worked their butts off to get to the quarterfinals. They were at the bottom during the group stage and football pundits have already written them off as an early casualty. But they staged a grand comeback, scoring three straight wins against Besiktas, Porto, and Marseille. Yeah I know, everybody loves underdogs but you gotta adore an underdog who can actually come through and deliver great wins.

Fernando Torres was especially impressive. He’s not as hyped up as Ronaldo or Rooney but he plays with so much class and maturity. He effortlessly swerves through several defenders and knows exactly where to take the ball. It also helps that he’s not as much of a whiner as Ronaldo or as hotheaded as Rooney. Paired with Gerrard, the kid is unstoppable.

So there are four English teams in the quarterfinals this year. It’s almost inevitable that at least one of them will be in the finals. Here’s to hoping it’ll be Liverpool. Too bad there’s no Milan to get back at.
